Best Philosophy of Life: You Can’t Change the Ocean …

Did you ever wonder, which philosophy of life works best? Think about it … “You can’t change the ocean or the weather; no matter how hard you try, so it’s best to learn how to sail in all conditions.”

Hello, sailor! Alright, I am no expert on nautical terms, but in this case let’s just say that I think “sail in all conditions” means to be prepared and just work with what you’ve got without stressing about it.

Imagine you were in a river, floating away. Would it be easier to swim against the tide or just let go and let it carry you smoothly downstream? I know what you’re thinking: this is the part in the movie when the river leads to a deadly fall but this is our theoretical case so we know it will disembogue into a lovely and peaceful lake. The kind of lake we all want to get to.

The problem is, people constantly obsess about things they can’t do anything about. And I always ask them: what’s good in stressing about such matters? Like, please, give me a specific and concrete answer that says what you gain in behaving like that. Could you even come up with one? Why, instead of worrying so much, can’t we just accept things? This is completely wrong philosophy of life. Let’s focus on what we CAN change. This is the right philosophy of life.

Change your philosophy of life with simple worry tree

For example, when I’m faced with a big task, I never stress about it. I can either do something or not. If I can, I get to work. If I can’t, then I simply let it go. There is no benefit in stress whatsoever.

This is a quite simple diagram which I use in my everyday life. As you can see, it consists of a very simple question that I ask myself every time I’m faced with something that could possibly stress me out.

There is no try indeed! Giving your best is always a must.

And if you decide to do it, then there is no excuse to not surrender yourself to your goals. Go all the way, like Charles Bukowski says:

Don’t worry about the past: There is no point in getting troubled by things that have already happened, this is again wrong philosophy of life. Some say that your past is what defines you … And in a way that’s true. But there comes a point when you just have to let it go and do your best to be in the present.

Mine is a clear example of this. When I was in the top of the world, circumstances changed and it all went to hell. Did I survive it? Of course I did. And that’s why I’m here, telling you my little secrets.

Think about it: we could all die tomorrow for all we know! Have you seen Seeking a Friend for the End of the World? A giant meteorite could hit the Earth and that’d be it. So let’s make it count!

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” (Maya Angelou)

If you don’t follow Mrs. Angelou’s advice, change your attitude and overall philosophy of life, it’s like you’re fighting against the circumstances (you’re not letting the river stream take you to the lovely lake) and to fight things creates a block in your energy field which doesn’t let anything enter. Picture it like a wall. But the important thing is that if you built it yourself, you can also knock it down.

Recently, I published a post about How to let go of hatred”, in which I talk about how nice attitudes like optimism and self-love make you take control of your life.

When the world is trying to teach you something vital about your current state and situation, stress and worries just won’t let that happen. And when you can’t learn something properly, it will just keep hanging annoyingly above your head until you look up and listen.

Shhh! No Complaining, Preety Please

Complaining is one of the basic forms of fighting. It means you’re not accepting what is given to you in that moment. Besides, it’s quite exasperating because it produces a really negative energy and attitudes like hatred around the person.

Small tip: be alert and next time you’re about to complain about something, just stop and turn the thought upside down. Give thanks for all the good things you do have. That’s how, step by step, you are getting rid of this habit.

Speak Words of Wisdom: Let It Be. See it this way. People, Events and Things ARE. Meaning, they are what they are. It’s as simple as that and absolutely nothing personal. This is about to sound like a tongue twister but please bear with me:

Accept what it IS because it is what it is anyways, so it would be kind of mad not to, wouldn’t you agree? Philosophy of life for winners.
